MAHAK introduced the establishment of Bone Marrow Transplantation Bank as one of its successful implemented Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) projects with business entities during the 4th International CSR Congress in February 2017.

MAHAK in line with its mission of identifying the needs of cancer-stricken children and their families, with cooperation of one of Iran’s leader automotive companies, Bahman Motor, initiated a CSR project under the name of ‘HLA Typing’ intended to collect 5000 donated samples of bone marrow leading to the establishment of the Stem Cell Transplantation Bank.

Along with the entrance to the new era of operation with management restructuring and transferring its ownership to the private sector, which is considered as a successful example of privatization, Bahman has decided to define this cooperation plan with MAHAK. According the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Bahman Motor, this company has committed to cover the expenses of conducting HLA Typing for experimenting and generating 5000 donated samples by allocating a specific part of its sales revenue.

MAHAK as a pioneer charity in the concept of social responsibility is fully aware of its duty to spend the resources and received funds from individuals and business entities in a right way with the intention of expanding its services for children suffering from cancer and their families.

One of the most important factors of this project, which is the result of a close cooperation between an NGO and the private sector implemented with the aim of providing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) for patients in need, especially children with cancer, is that this stem cell bank’s information is a public one available to every individual and organization in need in Iran and neighboring countries.

This CSR project is being run with the aim of operating as one of the largest stem cells banks in Iran and MAHAK hopes to be connected to and collaborate with international stem cell banks by the end of 2018, after the completion of the second phase of this project.
